I hope that this note finds you safe and well.

In this unprecedented time I wanted to take a brief moment to assure you that our work here at Flyaway Books continues. Though we are now in our second week of working from our homes, our staff members continue to edit, publish, market, and sell our books and resources in this uncertain new reality.

​

As challenging as this time is for us, we are aware that it is doubly challenging for many of you. We are concerned for churches, schools, libraries, and other organizations trying to figure out what their outreach means in this new reality. We are concerned about the parents who are having to educate their children while also doing their jobs remotely. We are concerned about the teachers and students who’ve suddenly been thrust into unfamiliar classrooms. And we’re concerned about the independent booksellers, many of whom have just begun to recover from the last great recession and now must close their doors and lay off treasured employees.

Some of the things we are doing to help these groups during this anxious time include:

• For families, we have free activities and resources that can be done at home.

• For organizations, we have updated our rights and licensing information to allow virtual story time of Flyaway Books. See the details.

• And for our independent booksellers, we have made a contribution to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, an organization that provides assistance to booksellers who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Visit bincfoundation.org if you’d like to make a contribution.

 

The weeks and months ahead will be difficult for all of us. None of us knows how long this will last, but rest assured that we will continue to be there for you—whether we are working from our kitchen tables or back in our offices—providing excellent books and resources while remembering our obligation to the people we serve and the global community to which we all belong.
